Instead of relying on sudden jump scares, Welcome, Dear Human focuses on creating a lasting sense of unease. Players are not only afraid of what they see but also of what might happen next.

The game begins with a strange greeting appearing in the silent space: “Welcome, dear human.” No one in the apartment says it, but you know it’s directed at you. From that moment, the game transforms curiosity into unease. The familiar apartment suddenly becomes strange, and every corner feels like it’s hiding something. Players enter a psychological horror story told in the style of a visual novel. The protagonist begins to experience phenomena similar to sleep paralysis, where the body is immobile but the mind remains awake. In that hazy state, a strange entity appears, like a creature emerging from humanity's ancient fears. From then on, every event in the apartment takes on an unusual color.
Players follow the journey of a character experiencing phenomena similar to sleep paralysis. It's a semi-conscious state where the body can't move but is still aware of everything around it. It is in those moments that a mysterious entity begins to appear. This creature is unlike the familiar monsters in horror games. It doesn't always attack or threaten immediately. Sometimes it just appears in a corner of the screen or in a strange dialogue. Its presence makes the player wonder whether this beast is a real supernatural entity or just a product of the mind. The story is told through dialogues, hand-drawn illustrations, and interspersed short scenes. As the game progresses, players will gradually realize that the world doesn't entirely follow the logic of reality.
The scary aspect isn't the sudden jump scares but the way the game makes players doubt their surroundings. A familiar bedroom, a chair in the corner, or a wall clock. These can become the source of unease. Small details are introduced slowly to the story. Players gradually realize that something is changing in the apartment. Gloomy background music, hand-drawn illustrations, and cryptic dialogue create a heavy atmosphere. Each time the screen changes, players feel like they are sinking deeper into a strange dream.
