The lab in Monsters Lab: Cooking is turned into a junkyard full of useless objects. Any object may be used as an ingredient, including slime, socks, and bananas.

The Brewing Pot Only Needs Discarded Items

You choose your mixture, press Brew, and then watch something crawl out of the bubbling slime. No recipe book is provided. The order in which you add things doesn't matter; only the combination determines what creature appears. Glass shelves around the room are filled with glass jars containing berries, leaves, and coral of all colors. The room's center is a boiling cyan glass chamber on a machine with two circular gauges, ready for the next batch. Each successful brewing session sends a new creature straight to the Monster Den collection. That's why this room exists.

Adding one unused ingredient to an existing monster is the fastest method to grow your collection. The results often yield close relatives of the old creature, forming a systematic chain of discovery. When the combination doesn't match any known formula, the pot still produces a normal creature. This ensures no batch is completely wasted. Every creature produced is recorded, turning the collection into a living experimental log. New levels unlock new ingredients, while leftovers can be traded in the Shop. Rare monsters require long-term stockpiling, making it part of the process. The lab is therefore never short of work.

A Single Click Or Finger Controls The Entire Lab

On a computer, the left mouse button does almost everything. You may make your selections, hit Brew, see the log, shop, see the progress bar, and get treasures after every batch. The mouse wheel scrolls through ingredient lists and long lists, such as Monster Den or brewing history. Drag and drop is also used to scroll through those lists. Click the × button in the top corner to dismiss the panel and return to a panoramic view of the lab. On phones, all operations are simplified to taps and swipes. Tap to select, cook, open the panel, and collect spoilers. Swipe up and down to scroll through the ingredient list and other lists. The × button still serves to return you to the main area. The controls are intentionally simple so that players can focus entirely on experimenting with combinations.
