Exploration, fighting, and crafting have turned Whatcraft into an engrossing survival adventure. There is a risk and an opportunity associated with every move.

Players not only fight but also explore, gather resources, and craft equipment to confront the monsters. The red-tiled house nestled in a cross-shaped meadow surrounded by blue water is merely a falsely peaceful starting point. Stepping outside, you face a life-or-death mission: go deeper, obtain what you need, and then craft something to survive. Monsters don't stand still; they appear in greater numbers whenever you think you've become stronger. Hidden puzzle pieces represent crafting recipes, which force you to battle, pick up, run, and think all at once. The icy pine trees and icy blue crystals make for a stunningly gorgeous but harsher scene than the initial terrain. The whirling purple stalks and glaring orange pits out in the horizon warn that this region is dangerous.
Whatcraft's unique feature is that your character will automatically swing their weapon at any enemy within range. Instead of pressing the attack button, concentrate on running in the appropriate direction, and preparing as necessary. Resources dropped by monsters and the environment become vital ingredients for crafting recipes. A new blade or newly crafted armor can determine how long you survive in the next area. Upgrading your character enhances stats and unlocks previously inaccessible areas. As you go, the strain mounts since your foes aren't as simple to beat as they were initially. You are forced to return to craft and experiment with new equipment before daring to venture deeper. This cycle makes each return to base feel both like a failure and a necessity.
Crafting isn't a side activity; it's the very breath of the experience. Materials gathered from monsters and the environment are fed into recipes to create weapons, tools, and armor. Each completed item provides a greater sense of security before upcoming battles. You can quickly switch between pickaxes, bows, and melee weapons to adapt to the situation. On a PC, the 1-5 keys allow for instant equipment changes, while WASD lets the character glide through treacherous terrain. On a phone, the virtual joystick and equipment slot buttons maintain that same flexibility. Equipping the right items at the right time is sometimes more important than fighting hard. Anyone who underestimates crafting will quickly find themselves facing a wall of monsters with no escape.
